The Kremlin announced today, Friday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed in a telephone conversation with his Brazilian counterpart Lula da Silva that Russia is open to dialogue on Ukraine.

Lula previously tweeted that he confirmed Brazil’s willingness to negotiate with both sides of the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin is open to any dialogue aimed at protecting the interests of the country.
“Dialogue in defense of our interests”
In response to statements by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about his intention to contact the Russian President, Peskov said: “Dialogue is necessary, and President Putin is always open for the necessary dialogue, of course, in order to protect the interests of our country.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said earlier today that he plans to have a new telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing that he opposes freezing the Ukrainian conflict, so Kiev must independently determine the conditions for achieving peace with Russia.
