The Russian military operation in Ukraine continues. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a “massive” drone attack targeting the city has killed a civilian in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
“A 35-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and a 41-year-old man died,” Klitschko said, adding that the wreckage of the drone had fallen near a gas station.
Klitschko pointed out that air defense systems in Kyiv shot down “more than 20 drones heading for the city”, urging residents of the capital to “stay in shelters. Massive attack.” He added that the fire also occurred at the company’s headquarters in the Goloseevsky district.
Russian forces have been shelling Kyiv since early May.
On Friday, the head of the local civil and military administration, Sergei Popko, counted 13 terrorist attacks in Kyiv this month.
Over the past few weeks, there have been increasing reports of drone attacks inside Russia, in regions bordering Ukraine. Russian regional authorities said there was an explosion in those areas on Saturday that killed two people.
Moscow holds Kyiv and its Western backers responsible for these attacks, including the attack on the Kremlin, but Ukraine denies any involvement.
