Xavi expresses disappointment over loss to Real Madrid, as Ancelotti highlights factors for success

Barcelona head coach Javi Hernandez described his team’s defeat in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid as “a tough defeat and a difficult moment”.

“A very difficult, difficult moment and a difficult defeat,” Xavi said in a press statement, commenting on Barcelona’s 4-0 loss to Real Madrid.
He added: “We made mistakes, so we were punished. We did well in the first half and badly in the second.”
In turn, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said: “We had a perfect match. Modric and Kroos were great today… energy and experience.”

Of Karim Benzema, Ancelotti said that he “makes the difference when he’s ready … one of the best strikers in the world”.

He continued: “The first goal changed the course of the match. We relied on counterattacks to create danger.”

“We still have to win the final,” he said.
