A US Secret Service spokesman told CNN that lab tests for a substance found at the White House turned out to be cocaine.
Previous field tests have shown a positive result for cocaine, but the substance has been sent for further evaluation and testing.
A source familiar with the matter said the substance was found near the entrance to the first floor of the West Wing, through which White House staff enter the building.
And US media indicated that the substance was found near where guests are asked to leave their cell phones before heading to the West Wing.
On Monday, the White House was temporarily evacuated after a suspicious bag of white powder was found in the building, and after a search, it turned out that the bag contained cocaine.
The evacuation affected several areas around the White House, and road closures led to traffic disruptions.
