FIFA Applies for Metaverse Trademarks as Part of “We” Initiative

Growing Interest in Virtual Reality

FIFA, the international dominant body of soccer, has recently filed trademark applications in relation to the metaverse as part of its “We” initiative.

This move is a display of FIFA’s growing interest in virtual reality (VR), and the organization has presented brands across nine additional categories with the opportunity to utilize VR.

Recently revealed brands, co on Twitter via bookworm property Attorney Mike Kondodis, highlights FIFA’s growing focus on using VR in gaming, fashion, and entertainment.

Brands can protect the diversity of possible online services with these trademark applications. They include various possibilities, starting with personality fitness coaching sessions to captivating laser shows, musical performances, and even live streams of sports events.

Furthermore, the trademark filings include the judgment of virtual sports equipment and accessories for use within these digital worlds.

One of previous FIFA endeavors within the metaverse includes the creation of a virtual exact copy of Lusail Qatar Stadium, which was purposefully built for World Cup, allowing viewers to enjoy the amenities of their homes.

In conjunction with the organizers of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot has collaborated with metaverse upland development platform unique virtual experiences and digital assets.

FIFA has also fired a new immersive fan-sharing app, Phygtlis. He/She allows users to relive their cherished moments from past World Cup events through an interactive gaming experience.

In a concerted effort to further consolidate its digital goals, FIFA has also worked on projects with Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and created “FIFA + Collect” in cooperation with Algorand Blockchain technology.
