The Comprehensive History of Starfield: A Journey Through 300 Years

Recently, Bethesda took the initiative and produced a comprehensive history of the events leading up to the setting of Starfield. This history details all of the significant events that took place over a span of approximately 300 years.

A Tradition of Rich Lore in Bethesda RPGs

It is a trait shared by all of Bethesda’s role-playing video games (RPGs) that they are often dense with mythology, populated with complex backstories, and bursting at the seams with documents, books, holotapes, secrets, and any other items to discover and gather. Starfield is not an exception to this rule, and considering the breadth of the game itself, it is only natural that there would be a substantial amount of background lore to support the narrative.

Excitement Among Fans

Fans are likely to be more thrilled than they have ever been following a promise that Starfield will debut on time and the emergence of a rumor suggesting that Bethesda will be throwing an exclusive launch event for the game. This is the culmination of a process that has spanned several years, and it has the potential to be the most amazing game in the history of the world.

But I have a bias because I have always been a huge fan of Bethesda’s lineup of games. The game may be a complete and utter disaster. Who could say?

Unveiling the 300-Year Background

The 300-year background for Starfield was just added to the website for the game, which was updated. It begins in 2050 and continues until 2330 when Starfield starts.

We find out that humanity first arrived on Mars in the year 2050 (thanks, Elon), and by the year 2100, they had begun living in “space.” They must have figured out how to go faster-than-light travel, even though they don’t talk about it, because 56 years later, they’re already visiting other star systems.

As has been the case throughout human history, new settlements are established, political factions emerge, and conflicts break out. By 2194, preparations were being made for a galactic conflict that would rock the very foundations of the human species.

After that, the history explains where, when, and why specifically named characters joined their separate sides. It concludes with a dark screen with the date “2330 A.D.” written across it.
